Sinned

Ok ok. I know that I have a Strategy paper that's just waiting to hit me on Friday but I guess a little blogging wouldn't hurt me. Back trackking a little bit, last month, I had the honour of meeting the President of SMU over a cup of tea. I asked for cheesecake but the PA didn't manage to bring it. She forgot about it. Gah.... Anyhooos, many were baffled on wtf did I want to go and meet the President in the first place. To be honest, I just wanted to see his office and have some small talk with the Big Guy.

Some photos to share.

Went to borrow Xiaohui's gorgeous red camera! I think I need to cut my hair.

The painting just outside his office. I want to own one painting one day. Love art.

Keeping myself comfortable and snuggable.

As his previous appointment started to leave his office, I extended my arms to greet the man whom I think has a lot of experience from the other side of the globe. As he started to invite me into his office, my eyes were already raping his interiors, trying to see his taste in arts and fashion. In that short span of 20 seconds, I've already known what kind of a man he is; cultured, rich yet with such humility, one can only admire his position right now.

Our topics ranged from comparing the old and current campus to how he lived through the civil war in the States. He explained that he remembered vividly on how the African Americans were clearly seperated from the Whites. They took different buses, sat at different areas in school and even had different districts to live in. But the weirdest thing he noticed was that, the Hispanics and Asians belonged more to the Whites than the African Americans. Interesting. Gonna read up on that soon.

I even managed to complain to him about how the culture of SMU has changed, from being more "family" to being very individualistic and too competitive that bring about more detriments than good. I told him that the students are getting too nerdy. Smart is ok but when you're contantly confining yourself at the library and staking yourself at the GSRs on Sundays, being nerdy is truly an understatement.

We exchanged thoughts on ambitions, society, SMU and life on a whole. I asked what made him be the person that he is today. The only thing he said was to help as many people as we could. A sound answer in my opinion. Not many can grasp that concept. Some might even think that he's not answering the question. Figure it out slowly and you'll find out what he meant.

On a parting note, I just had to put on my red shades and told him to pose like a rockstar. I want the world to see that the President of SMU has character and attitude. I've fulfilled my ambition in SMU. Finally, I got to see the President's office.

Wrong Move

Had Business Processes exam today. It was the only paper that I'm a lil worried about. Knowing myself, numbers can never turn me on. They're more like ugly looking cows. Cows are already ugly. Put numbers on the cows. OMG...

What's worse than facing numbers? Having a song stuck in your head when you're stuck at a tough question. Kylie Minogue, "Can't Get You Outta My Head". And seriously, no pun intended. That was the freaking song while I was trying my best to solve this Queuing problem that left me dumbfounded with the fact that my prof used a Hobbit as an example. Hobbits washing cars.... hmmm... imagine tens of thems. Imagine them wearing SHELL uniforms. IMAGINE THAT!

So yeah. Now that BeePee is over, I could breathe a little bit right now. Staying in the library, making new friends, getting booked by the security guards for sleeping, McDonald suppers and Bencoolen treats truly embedded in my memory what my life is all about. Colours.

Anyways, I found out and I have finally confirmed THAT, 2 donuts and a cup of hot Milo would make me high and sleepy. No kidding. The last time that I consumed them, I was feeling a lil "drunk" while on stage at Timbre. I was mumbling to myself and Jason wasn't spared at all. Today, I ponytailed my hair and walked around school without any tinge of uneasiness. I was feeling happy actually.

So yeah, in essence, if I truly want to sleep, I would certainly get ready my 2 donuts and my cup of hot Milo. Tomorrow's my Science and Exploration paper. Seriously, I don't know what to expect. Another rock and roll day for me I guess.

Elvis is dead. I'm taking over from now on.

This work was inspired by the raising monitor screen at Admin Building. They have buttons to raise the monitor screens from below the desks. How awesome is that!!

On a happy sidenote, we got 2nd placing for Yamaha Asianbeats 2006!!! $1000 in cash and $1500 in yamaha vouchers. Now I can go and grab my guitar hardcasing for free!!! Apart from that, we finally got respect from the streets.

Enjoy the video. Full blast it if you can.

Final Countdown

Plaza Singapura will be the venue for the Yamaha Asianbeats 2006. My band will be competing with 6 others to represent Singapore. The event starts at 6.30pm and we will be the last band performing for the night. It would be great to hear your shouts and screams tomorrow. Come down at about 8pm to be safe. As mentioned, we're the last band to perform.

Finishing Touch

What a way to start the day. 830am. Met the beautiful Miss Tania from OCS. She's HOT I tell you... Anyway, the main reason why I was at the Admin Building was because I was given a last minute assignment to do filming for Finishing Touch. JZ recommended me this job to the OCS and looking at these guys feeling nervous and stuttering reminded me of my early years in SMU. These are some of the sample questions;

1. SMU students are said to be different. How different are you and how does that make you more suitable for this internship?
Most suitable answer: SMU students are masters at smoking their way through presentations. Don't you know, we complemented the haze? So please, do rest assure, your powerpoints will have lots of words and fancy animations that will just blow your clients' minds away. We can do cheesy videos too, upon request only though.

2. In your opinion, what makes a good photojournalist?
Oh, this is easy. You must be a vain camwhore first. Not only that, you must be bitchy too. So, in essence. To be a good photojournalist, you must be a bitchy camwhore. Nad, you are suitable for this position. Lol.

Me, Anthony and My Super Chio Bruddeerrrrr, Xiaohui outside Maestro shop.

Something to point out. The only regret that I have, is not taking enough photos of my life in SMU. Sometimes, I do feel sad for not having physical memories of my stay in SMU. Nevertheless, I shall try and make trip to Thailand, one of the most memorable picture galore one has ever seen.

Officially Missing SMU

I'm done. I hope my contribution thus far has been sufficient and value adding to the SMU community. It's been a wonderful roller-coaster ride. 4 years have passed. I've seen the community grow and change. To be honest, ever since our move to the new campus, everybody changed. I tried to keep the old culture intact along with the rest of my fellow compatriots. Keep the family spirit alive and really live up to the tagline, "SMU, We are different". More pictures will be up soon once the kind people have send them to me. Oh, do mail me please if you have any photos or videos. Thanks.

Prof Jamiel

I am seriously thinking of teaching in an institution. Higher learning if possible. Don't know why. There's a calm calling.
I was offered to sing at a Bali resort for 3-6 months but had to turn it down because of my Thailand exchange. Hopefully, there's still opportunity after I comeback.

Well, here is a clip that I made for my Science and Exploration class.

Time flies by in a great speed. Without us knowing, the end is beckoning. Wel, some might say the end is the beginning of something that will end which will then be the beginning of something else.

The crazy gang that made this one of the slackest course I've ever had because of our efficiency.

I look good with this hairstyle actually. Look decent. Not that I'm not. :D

Detention

Why of all people, ME?

I was studying Business Processes at the SMU library from 12 midnight right up till 5am when eyes told me that enough is enough. So I shifted the couch to my fancy and snuggled with my polar bear sweater. The coldness of the library was just nice, levelled by the warmth of the sweater. Soon, I was in slumberland.

Not long after, at about 8am, I was abruptly awaken by the security in blue.

Security guard: Helo, excuse me, you cannot sleep here. Somebody complain already.

Jamiel: -with eyes half opened- Huh? What?

SG: Write your name here.

WTH! I was being booked! For sleeping. Thanks lah... I submissively wrote down my name without much thought. My brain didn't want to think, it was in "Sleep" mode still. I wrote my number down. Gave it to her then right in front of her, I went back to sleep. LOL. I'm bloody stubborn.

SG: Eh, young man. Please wake up ah.

Jamiel: Ok Ok. -yawns-

So I sat straight. Eyes latched on the guard, monitoring every move that she made and when she was out of sight, guess what I did?

Yup. I went back to sleep. All the way till 11am.

This is the best part.

When I woke up, I was surrounded by people who were SLEEPINGG!!!! And they weren't booked. Like, HelOoOoOoOOooOOoO!!! This old-going-to-graduate-last-sem-in-SMU-rockerfella was booked while the rest of them snoozes unscathed?

Lol. I just couldn't care less. If they are going to take actions, in which I doubt, I will complain straight to the President cause I'm meeting him soon for dinner. Haiz.... SMU is getting weirder and weirder. Feels like a prison. Maybe, SMU should have their own "Prison Break" series. I CAN BE THE MAIN ACTOR though I've yet to see the show. Heard it's addictive. Shall leave it till exams are over.

Concrete Pictures

Been having some freedom of mind as of late. Would love to put some pics up as requested by most of the readers from the previous feedback session.

This entry goes out to the CHICKIES!!!

Took this with Carrie when I was doing the EZ link job just outside the OSL.

This is Vell, my Thai friend from Chulalongkorn. She's teaching me Thai right now. This was taken during Virtuoso.

What can I say, I told myself that I have to take a picture with this BOMB before I leave SMU. Thanks Valene! Taken during Virtuoso.

This picture, well, speaks for itself. =D

Anyways, Loi Khratong happened in November and Vell took me to Golden Mile to experience what usually happens in Thialand. More pictures will be posted soon. This are just the few that I've received thus far.

I love this display pic of Vell. Uberkewl....

So what you're supposed to do is to buy the flower, which is sticked onto a styrofoam, and light up the candle and incense. Once that is done, you placed a coin on the flower and make a wish, float it on the water and let nature bring it to wherever it wants to.

If you see the picture closely, you'll see hundreds of mini lights at the background. What makes it more special is the very fact that it was full moon and the light it was casting on the Kallang River. Amazing. I'll try and get that picture.

Wash it away

Just came back from Liang Seah St with Vell. Introduced her to one of my favourite Halal Chinese stalls in Singapore while learning Thai from her. Things are progressing and I hope to be confident with my conversations with the Thais there later on.

3 more weeks. Some things that I wish to do.

1. Be a guinea pig to Pfizer.
2. Earn a lil bit more for the Thai trip with some adhoc jobs.
3. Buy a hardcase for my guitar
4. Chill

They called me Mr Cameraman

School's been a blast for the past 4 years. Things are picking up but the exams are just going to be another, "let's get this and done over with" event. Being a senior, the mindset of "aiyah, heck carelah" is beginning to set in. Some treat this as the last burst of energy to score your best grades. For me, it doesn't matter, because I AM GOING TO THAILAND!

Marching Parade

Marching OooOOoOnnnn!

One of the most important day of my life.

My mom couldn't resist taking a photo with this Indonesian dude. Dunno why...

A good job today. My hair looks good from the back actually... Hmm...

Most prized possession. This photo means a lot. My family came down to watch me perform for the first time.

Just an update, Royale got 3rd for the Indoakustik. Alhamdulillah. We enjoyed ourselves and despite being the crowd favourites, we had to bow out to the eventual winners. Congrats to them. But on a good note, we managed to get into the finals of the Yamaha AsianBeats competition. Some random pics.

Adam Road makan!

Do drop by to support us if you guys are around the area. I know it's crunch time for most but you've gotta do some headbanging to let the blood flow in your head after burying your head with books for close to 3 months.

Unsure

These are the few things that sometimes people are puzzled about me. Sometimes they ask, "Are you gay or something?"

1. I don't like to watch Victoria Secret's Runaway show. Guys scold me for this. Girls think I'm crazy.
2. I don't like women celebrities. This doesn't mean I LIKE guy celebrities.
3. I don't like Caucasian girls and this doesn't mean I LIKE Caucasion guys. Tsk. Some of you are just waiting to use my words against me. I KNOWWW! Gah!

Just the other day, I saw a girl auditioning for Starry Starry Night. I felt like a secondary school boy blushing all of a sudden. Why? I think she was cute, had long hair and played DRUMS. Haiz.... I cannot live like this. Lol.

I think Tata Young is hot. Her latest MTV is darn provocative. I likeeeee.

I think Asian girls are way hotter than any women in the world. I think Pan-Asian looking girls are WAYYYY Hottter than Asian girls. LOL.
