People age but the train rides always remain the same.
Whenever the train stops at Khatib, I will always remember how Shaiful and I would share one bicycle, I would cycle while he would do the steering.
Everytime, the train stops at Ang Mo Kio, it would remind me of the time Wan told me about the band Naked and how it sounded dumb to me back then.
Whenever the train stops at Toa Payoh, it would remind me of the time I used to be really rebellious back in first three months of college.
And that train stretch, between Khatib and Yio Chu Kang, would forever etch in my mind as the longest single train ride in between two stations when I'm going to school. I still remember this couple from Yio Chu Kang Sec. They look good together but they seem unhappy.
And when I visit my old house back in Yishun, I'd stare at my old unit from the car park and a whole database of 10 year history will flood the mind; from school to soccer and how I develop my strong sense of hearing. That playground used to be my haven but with no friends, I'd play alone. My only friend would be my brother and our weekend video game rendezvous.
How people age
Yet, the rides remain the same.
