Hong Kong?!

Had a gig at NUS for their Arts and Culture week. Did an acoustic set with Jason. I was a lil nervous because i was a lil unprepared having to come in for Faye because she had to leave Singapore for some family matters. I'm the sort of person who takes my music seriously. This means, that, I must be prepared before I can have fun on stage. I can't afford things to cock up. I donno why, perhaps it's just the music perfectionist in me. How I wish i could apply that to my other areas in life.

Everything seemed smooth as i sang This Love. There were a few mouths singing along and I told the crowd to loosen up, shakes those shoulders and heads to enjoy the set. Not many watched but things took a huge turn when a huge group of primary sch kids came marching through the gate with their green uniform. They look like elves. Hehe... I was nevertheless very happy because at least there were people who were responding to my antiques. I managed to ask some questions.

I asked, "So where are you guys from?". i hear someone shouting at the back saying, Hong Kong!
"Hong Kong?!. LOL." Everybody was laughing their socks off. "Concordlah!" a lil kid shouted from the back. "Oh! That Chua Chu Kang sch! I know"

That was the environment that i wanted. The ice was broken. It was so cute to see da kids laughing. Reminded me of my primary school days where excursions were the best part of my life.

I asked, "Are you guys on a field trip? Do you still need consent form?" Many shook their heads. Weird. Shouldn't they be needing their parents signature? Remember that guys? The green form? LOL. They made my day. For that, I sang An Jing for them for fun. All their jaws dropped. LOL. Cute. Priceless.

Didnt manage to get da orange La Coste polo shirt that i wanted. Somebody else bought it before i did. =(. Met Danny from Timbre. Hopefully, i can get more gigs like this and perhaps, play at Timbre or Esplanade. He's a great guy. We share the same passion. Vintage and Macintosh. He's gonna teach me harmonica. Yay.

ja
happy miel
