I managed to catch Miss Singapore Universe 2006 despite having an Marketing Research paper later in the day. If it's not for Jade, I would have just scanned through the contestants, comment on how most of them lack in their wits and beauty and then switch it off. But yesterday was different. It was a matter of support for a friend and hoping that she would take away the coveted title. And indeed, my premonition was true. Not many were drop-dead-drool-Miss Uruguay type of gorgeous and during the question and answer portion of the competition, many gave boring, non-witty and literally WTF answers.
Take for example MSU 1. When asked about the notion that local men are inferior than foreign man, she gave a WTF answer.
"All my ex boyfriends are local. They may be short and plump but I still love them" Seriously..... You've gotta be kidding me....
At least Jade gave a short witty answer, SMU style. Her last punchline of "... all the men need is just a lil bit of training" gave me the confidence that she could win the title. BUT NOOOOOOOOOOOO. They had to give it to the lady who wasn't attractive and not witty at all. Maybe I'm just being too critical about the whole thing because many of us really thought the Jade could have stole it from her. There was nothing special in the winner that I could pinpoint. Speaking of which, her assets proved to be the eyecatcher. Who can miss it? I think the Mir Station from outerspace could see bedengdengs from up there.
Haiz... nevertheless, congrats to Jade because you've already did us proud by making SMU's presence felt with your wits and beauty.
