The best gig i've ever had.
The centre of Lau Par Sat is certainly the last place anybody would expect a performance to take place. But on the 2nd of September 2006, I became the first (I hope) guitarist to play and sing over there. I love to perform raw. It's live. It's personal. People just stare at you while they eat their dinner. But soon, everything started to sink in and even the stall workers took a short break to see us perform. To see their faces, just thrilled to see something different for a change, was truly priceless.
I witnessed the cutest thing when one of the stall workers, with his apron and smile, waved a piece of paper at me. After finishing my song, I told him to come nearer and pass me the paper. This was what was exactly written without any ammendments,
"Dedication,
Me Fareez here, would like to dedicate a song she will be loved. To all the lau pa sat workers. Especially the stall 60, the Boss named Zul and the workers here... And the lady in white in front of the western food stall, she a Malay girl, I want to say she's beautiful and sweet"
I did his song and he was smiling from ear to ear. Give me a reason not to perform for the people.
