Preparations

Ok, pre-departure preparations. If you are going to stay more than 3 months in Thailand, I’d suggest you travel light. It’s pointless for you to be bringing lots of clothings or shoes BECAUSE you can just buy a pair of cheap shoes, use them and throw them away before you leave. In that way, you’re able to stuff more goodies in your bags before departing home. As for me, my theme for this 4-month exchange is simple. Just Rock and Roll. Predict the unpredictable and just sing to the tunes of the Thais. Just relax and enjoy.

Edison, the other SMU exchange student coming along with me.

They would make a good synchronized swimming couple.

Make sure to book your trip way in advance so that you are able to get the best deal out of your flight. Constantly keep on the lookout for promotions on AirAsia or other budget airlines. I would recommend AirAsia because they have good service and they took great care of semi-acoustic guitar. They stored it in a special compartment along with other fragile items. Be sure to inform them at the baggage counter about your preferences. There was another budget airline but I forgot which that she mentioned and they will make you pay an extra seat if you want your fragile item to be carried on board. Now that's going overboard.

I just find it amazing to see that everything below on earth is so well organized. Everything is on their own space and ORGANIZED!!! They're like block of legos from above.

Finally! Touch down Thailand.

Woke up from my short slumber and collected my Blueridge acoustic guitar at the exit. The two hour flight

Due to our late scheduled arrival, Edison and I wasn’t able to get a roommate at Evergreen. Not wanting to pay extra rent to an already expensive apartment, we pulled in our resources and contacts to get an apartment with the best deal as possible.

"Evergreen Apartments"

This apartment in my opinion really costs a bomb. 10000 baht is about S$435/ month and that excludes internet services. Unless you like the idea of free gym and swimming pool, this wouldn't be the place for you. If you're the rugged outdoor type, you can try and stay at my apartment called DBS Apartment. This is the address.

Tel: 02-6444-324-7 ext. 0 (K.Pat)
Fax: 02-868-6600

They have ample furniture in the room.
1 cupboard
3 small desks
1 huge kickass desk
1 mirror
1 toilet with NO hot water
Huge kickass Kingsize bed for 2 people BUT there is NO Pillow, NO Bedsheets and pillow cases.
Air-Conditioned

Optional:
Internet (250 baht)
TV (500 baht)

Condition Payment
5,500 baht/ mth and it doesn't include Water and Electric fee

Meet my funky duckie!

My room number. It has a 7 in it!

Ammenities nearby:
BTS (Bangkok Train Station) called Victory Monument and it's about 400m away from the apartment. You have to walk about 10 mins to the train station. Don't be lazy. Treat it like a morning exercise.

Lots of supermarkets and malls. Streets stalls are aplenty so it's basically food haven for both locals and foreigners.
