I wasn't really intending to go to the full moon party at Koh Phangan as yet. Perhaps in March or something but never in February. But when I heard the number of exchange people going, I guess it would be good to jump the bandwagon and minggle with most of whom I've yet to really interact with.
The only problem is, I was going to be travelling alone. 12 freaking hours by train and loads of uncertainty ahead of me. Canadian John and some others took the comfortable 1000 baht train, those of which you could actually recline the seats and transform them into bed. Well, with only a 200 baht ticket, my could only sit up straight. I was travelling the cheapest way that I could and that was without aircon and a decent bed. But having to ride the Indonesian train before which was very similar to the one that I was sitting in, my mind wasn't going nuts over many petty stuff.
How to get the Bangkok Railway Station? Take a BTS and transfer to the nearest MRT. Buy a ticket and alight at Hua Lamphong station. It is exactly there. Walking through the train station gave me an unbelievable feeling that I just cannot describe. It's like history cum nostalgic emotions were suddenly flushed throughout my body. It was a good feeling. The building has character. I like this sort of buildings.
Bought the tickets and went go grab my dinner. Meet my dinner. 1 waffle and a yoghurt which costs 30 baht (1.20 Sing) altogether. Aroi maak maak! (very nice).
So I sat down in front of the huge kickass screen and watched Singapore against Thailand for the Asean cup. Singapore won the first leg 2-1. I cheered loudly when Thailand scored but I cheered even louder (in my heart) when Singapore scored.
Nothing beats ole skool black and white.
Hardworking ladies.
It is hard to travel alone sometimes. You have mixed feelings about interacting with the locals. You wouldn't want any of them to know that you're a Singaporean (some travellers mentality for safety reasons) but on the other hand you would want to chat with the locals despite your limitations in the linguistic section.
So at the end of the day, you face a wall for the moment until you equipped yourself with something, a value-add that allows you to go around this wall and move forward again.
You see this sign? It says what it says right?
But where do you run to? The wall is freaking solid man and there isn't any axe. I've tried. I've knocked. It's PURE concrete and not hallow. -shakes head- But in any case, whatever it means, people aren't going to read it when it is so high up, the escape route area will certainly be congested. Common sense...
The sun and the moon together.
There was actually nothing in my mind about tomorrow's trip. No mental preparations but just 2 things. Pack my bag with my passport and my money. I always bring 7000 baht to spend and for emergency. With the remainder in my wallet, I will be able to know exactly how much I spent in that area.
These shoes are meant for walking and I will continue to travel the world that is a classroom to this humble student of God.
Pray for my safety back home. Let's begin.
