Thai Indiana Jones

Now, what shall I do since there was no more bus and I wasn't keen on spending the night anywhere except the streets?

Prataman.

I stayed with him until he closed his shop at about 12 midnight. Since we are in Haatyai, he could speak Malay. That was a relief. I tried to ask as many questions as I could with regards to tomorrow's departure to Singapore.

When he finally closed his shop, he suggested that I move to the next shop just opposite. She sells hot drinks. Fine. At least she closed at 6am. I could use a few cups of coffee since I'm not sleeping anyway.

I was kept busy writing an article for Berita Harian, editing my videos and watching DVDs that was translated into Thai. ALL OF THEM. Even Jay Chou and Indiana Jones could speak Thai. How cool is that?

5am. I couldn't bear sitting down at the place anymore. I need to go to the loo. And so the search began for the one small cubicle that would ease my suffering. Doing it in public ain't my kind of thing unless I have no choice.

I decided to get lost and venture into the bustling morning market. The smell of the morning breeze on top of raw veges and fishes really woke me up.

Donno what does a Zebra have to do with anything...

As I walked back towards the main road, I asked the raw noodle seller on how I could get to the bus station by showing him a piece of paper that the Prataman had written down for me. It was useful. The motorbike taxi that I hailed wanted 20 baht for one trip there. It was cheaper than those people who wanted to bring me there for 500 baht the night before. With my big backpack on my back, we whizz through the morning market.

And found myself meeting this man who eventually became the person who sold me the cheap ticket to Singapore. I was already this close and I've yet to sleep. I got myself a mug of Milo and tried to keep my sanity alive.

This shop was selling chicken rice. Too bad I couldn't eat them.

I was that close...

Giving alms early in the morning to the monks.

See that pink book? That's full of Thai words that I learnt throughout my journey, including how to tell the time in Thai.

Torn and tattered but I still didn't know how I could still stay awake.

If I sleep at the moment in time, it would have been very difficult for me to wake up. So I decided to tour Haatyai on my own till 12noon. It was only 8am...

I've seen night and I've seen transitions.

This bridge reminded me of the bridge for Parkway Parade to East Coast Parkway.

This reminded me of the market we have in Singapore like Yishun Central. Any Yishuners out there?

I love the smell.

This is a tagline suitable for a butcher.

"We Will Meat Your Needs Anytime" How bout that for wordplay?

Skinned frogs. Yummy.

Old timer.

Tell me why did I buy this camera in the first place? It's amazing.... I love you Ixus 65 -hugz-

Order on the move.

This fish took a beating. Knife and a mallet. Woah... Big headache...

I really wonder how she ever does it every single day...

Ever since I started cooking, I crave for fresh ingredients.

These ladies are making me crazy and not being able to buy it makes it worse.

The whole stretch of road will filled with fruits and vege sellers on one side and fresh meat and seafood on the other side.

Fresh smell.

Riding hood.

Winning shot.

Love this one.

This is hilarious. I wonder if we can do the same thing in Singapore. Bikers unite!

Hope, danggles on a string. Like slow spinning redemption.

You think I can win an award with this? =D

Blue moooooooooon......

Bored out of my mind.

Torn and tattered but still walking.

Remember this one?

Do I need to explain?

I had my only breakfast cum lunch cum dinner at 9am. Due to the fact that when I crossed the Malaysian border, I can no longer savour a Ramlee burger because all I have was Thai currencies.

Chinese.

Colour.
